ABSTRACT
This paper focuses on one of the fundamental aspects in the development of man’s Physical Capacities, their characteristics in the population of Busowa community, Bugiri district in Uganda, as well as the assessment of the standards for their evaluation.
The motivation of this study is based on the argument that the Physical Capacities of man are not developed during his whole lifetime although they are present in all the motor actions that he performs for which it is important to take into account that each population has got its own characteristics in as far as the development of Physical Capacities and for that reason all programs that have to do with the motor action in a given population must be based on Physical Tests in that very population. This study shows the development levels of the physical capacities, speed, strength endurance of the upper extremities, abdominal muscles, explosive force of the lower extremities and general endurance together with their dynamic displacements from the ages of 6-14 years. It is based on a sample study of 2706 subjects from Busowa community. The data was processed using the statistical package “SPSS VERSION 13” using the percentile method thus obtaining the tables to be used in evaluating Physical Fitness of that population and detect possible Talents.
The results reveal that the physical capacities with the highest levels of development were: speed and the explosive force of the lower extremities and the worst developed capacity is the strength endurance of the upper extremities.
